Kase & Ev first met while vacationing at Lake Mohave, a small lake in NV, during Labor Day Weekend 2016. Evan had just gotten off of a ship in the Middle East and was decompressing with the Coniglio and Tarantino families at their river house, while Kasey was staying a couple houses down with the McRae family and her UCLA friends. The weekend consisted of a lot of wakeboarding, sunburns, and drinking Coors Lights. Somehow Ev and his friends happened upon the Mcrae's place one night for some drinking games. During a competitive game of Baseball, Kasey caught Evan trying to sneakily remove his Invisalign retainers between sips of beer - she called him out and they started talking...turns out they lived 20 minutes from each other in California and shared the same orthodontist! When the time came for vacation to end, Evan made plans to see her when they got back. Because no one has cell service at the river, phones are rarely carried - so Evan memorized her phone number and texted her a few days later. Their first date was dinner and drinks at Le Papagayo in Leucadia. From that day on, Evan was known to Kasey's friends as "Lake Boy."

Evan ended up scoring a San Diego hitch on the USNS Kaiser during the first year they were dating, which allowed him to live locally, in a La Quinta Hotel. They spent weekends that year getting to know each others large friend groups and parents, who happened to live 15 minutes from each other! Their first trips together consisted of exploring Joshua tree, camping at the San Onofre base, and their first solo trip camping around the Big Pine/Mammoth area. They finished that year with an epic 30 day road trip camping in the top tent from San Diego to Canada, and back.

For the next 4 years Kasey and Evan learned how to survive a long distance relationship, counting the days until they'd see each other next. Evan was all over the world, working at sea for 5 months on end with minimal cell service, changing time zones, and frequently rotating day/night shifts. Kasey was in grad school in the Bay Area doing a PA and MPH program for 3 years, and moving to a new city every 6 weeks in the last year for rotations. They made the most of the school breaks and Evans time home, road tripping throughout the national parks in Utah and visiting Yellowstone/Grand Tetons with friends. The pandemic kept Evan at sea in the Indian Ocean for the majority of 2020, but the silver lining was once he returned we could officially say long distance was behind us!

Ev and Kasey officially moved in together in Solana Beach, with Devon and Schampy in a house many called "The Hostel," known for the revolving front door. Rarely a weekend went by without an extra friend or two sleeping on the couch. Evan found a job on land at the Naval base while Kasey finished up finished up PA school and got her first job in SD. At the Hostels largest capacity, there were 5 roommates, a dog, and a cat! (Shout out to Devon, Syka, Bex, Toby, & Hanky). Between family dinners, crafting cocktails, backyard parties, and half assed half marathon runs, we really took advantage of living with our best friends.

Out of the blue at his brother Aaron's wedding, Evan was presented with an opportunity to move to Seattle and work with his friend Chris at his design build company doing remodels. After a couple months of visiting and mustering up the courage to leave SD, Kasey and Evan made the move to Seattle, WA in June of 2022! A few months after settling into their new home in the Pacific Northwest, Evan finally got off the pot and popped the question at a favorite picnicking spot of theirs, Gas Works Park. Shortly thereafter, they realized true love actually does exist when they laid eyes on their new puppy, Laney. She is a Bernese Mountain Dog/Border Collie mix who steals the heart of anyone who meets her. They are loving the proximity to world class hiking and National Parks in every direction...plan a trip to visit!
